Take a self-drive car tour

Headline Date 31-05-2017

Last month saw the launch of the first ever self-drive guided tour of London which incorporates several attractions from our local neighbourhood.

Hiring a Yonda car, with custom-built satnav giving you turn-by-turn directions, means you can see London like never before. The tour is designed to get you right up close to the city’s iconic buildings and coolest streets.

The commentary is interesting, funny and irreverent so is great for both foreign tourists and Londoners alike. You can learn about where the Beatles made their last recording, where Harrison Ford bought his “Indy” Hat for the Indiana Jones films, the mystery of Lord Lucan and the murdered nanny, and how the Queen and her sister mingled with the crowds in disguise to celebrate the end of World War II to name just a few of the incredible stories told during the trip.

The GPS is cleverly synced with the commentary so facts about each location are given out at exactly the right point in your journey. Getting stuck in traffic becomes a pleasure, since the slower you’re moving, the more information you receive!

The tours (which generally take around an hour and a half) take in Mayfair, Pall Mall, Soho, Covent Garden, Trafalgar Square, Whitehall, Parliament Square and Buckingham Palace and cost £60 (including insurance) per two-seater car. Cars are available seven days a week, between 10 am and 6 pm.
