Public Realm Vision

There will be an increase of around 147% in the amount of publicly accessible space in the new Victoria. We want to ensure ease of access to this public realm space for pedestrians, cyclists and visitors plus a seamless interchange for everyone using Victoria as a transport hub.

Development projects in the heart of the BID such as Nova, Victoria and the London Victoria Station Upgrade will transform the area bringing additional footfall. We are looking at projects that aim to revitalise already intensively-used spaces such as Terminus Place. Smaller but significant development projects such as Grosvenor Gardens House and Eland House will alter Victoria further.

Our newly published Public Realm Vision for Victoria, generated for us by specialist consultants Publica, is a framework to inform these and future projects. It comprises a set of 12 overarching principles that developers can sign up to. Collectively the principles help to ensure that Victoria remains a healthy and vibrant place in which to live, work, and visit. The 12 principles  are designed to ensure that developments are not only commensurate with sustainable development, but are people-oriented. The report also features ideas and suggestions for public realm projects that the BID will take forward over the coming years. We welcome all responses to this pioneering document.
