Marauding Terrorist Attacks and ACT Awareness

January 23, 2020 @ 8:45 am - 12:30 pm

ACT Awareness is the national counter terrorism awareness initiative for business produced by the National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO) to protect business communities from the threat of terrorism. This briefing will be focusing on Marauding Terrorist Attacks.

Marauding Terrorist Attacks (MTA) are fast-moving, violent incidents where assailants move through a location aiming to find and kill or injure as many people as possible. Most casualties occur within the first few minutes of the attack, before police are able to respond.

It is more important than ever that your organisation is aware of the heightened risks and adequately prepared for any potential attack. Specialist Police Officers from the Firearms Command (SO19) will discuss how your organisation can recognise an attack, take immediate action and facilitate the police.

ACT Awareness encourages communities to work together with Police in order to detect and deter terrorist activity. It aims to give everyone the confidence to recognise and report suspicious behaviour and guidance of how to respond to the most likely types of terrorist activities.

The awareness session will be presented by a specially trained Counter Terrorism Police Officer and include the following modules:

  • Introduction to Counter Terrorism
  • Current Threat
  • Identifying and Responding to Suspicious Behaviour
  • Responding to a Marauding Terrorist Firearms / Weapons Attack
  • Other forms of attacks (VBIED, IED, VAW) and how to prepare / respond

RSVP delegate name, job title, organisation to safeandsecure@victoriabid.co.uk. Places are limited and will be awarded on a first come first serve basis. Breakfast will be served.
