Extinction Rebellion, the group who were involved in Saturdays demonstrations and bridges blockades in Westminster, are planning further demonstrations this week.
Met Police intelligence suggests they are coming out at 7am on Wednesday through to Saturday and planning on using “swarming” tactics.
This will involve them going into the middle of the road when the traffic lights turn red. They then plan on spending around 10 minutes in the road before retreating and then repeating later.
They wish to avoid confrontation with drivers so will be engaging with them and reassuring them that the block is only for a short period of time.
The groups will be mobile and intend undertaking these tactics throughout the day in various locations across Central London.
Meeting Point: In front of Westminster Cathedral Choir School, SW1P 1QH
Meeting Point: In front of St Cuthbert’s Church, SW5 9EB closest station is Earls Court
Meeting Point: The Scoop at more London, SE1 2AA, closest tube is London Bridge
Meeting point: St Mary’s Churchyard, SE1 6SF, closest station is Elephant and Castle
There is also intelligence to suggest that a number of this group will also form up at 1000hrs on Saturday 24th in Parliament Square. Their intentions at this time are unknown.
This is for your early awareness of any activity which may take place.
