Join us on Tuesday 11th October from 09.30am – 12.30pm for a suicide awareness and prevention workshop with Chris Morgan. The session will provide an introduction to suicide, its prevalence and some warning signs, along with training on how to help someone who is having suicidal thoughts, some do’s and don’ts and the importance of listening.
About the trainer:Chris Morgan worked for the South East Development Centre of the National Institute forMental Health in England (NIMHE) from 2004 to 2009 as Programme Lead for Suicide Prevention. The work involved networking across mental health services, primary care, local authorities and the voluntary sector, and encouraging best practice in mental health promotion and suicide prevention.
Chris was a founder member of the National Training Team for Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) in England, and has worked as a trainer with MHFA England, and with West Kent Mind, for many years. Chris also teaches the two-day ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) course. He has personal experience of depression, and uses this in his training approach.
