Destination Victoria

Victoria is a destination of choice and offers experiences for every lifestyle and budget from family-friendly heritage days out and eating to world-class hotels, fine dining and cool clubbing.

Major transformation is taking place. Victoria, in the heart of Westminster, will become an even more fantastic place to live, an internationally significant business district and a new centre for business and culture in London. The new Victoria will be characterised by striking modern architecture and attractive public space within walking distance of London’s most iconic attractions. It will be a busy, culturally-stimulating place with a broad range of visitor attractions, shops and community facilities. In essence, it will be a remarkable new addition to Central London.

Victoria as a destination

Through our work with key partners we have been dynamically promoting Victoria as a visitor, shopping, entertainment, cultural and business destination. During our first term as a BID, we have made remarkable progress with innovative projects like the breaking of a Guinness World Record, outdoor theatre, pop-up interactive public art, promotional flash mobs, the Victoria Football Cup, health and well-being events and annual Festive Lights during the months of November and December; to mention but a few. These initiatives engaged over 150 individual organisations and attracted over 300,000 visitors to the area. Our seven Ambassadors have interacted with, and assisted, over half a million visitors, 250,000 more than our original target. Working closely with the Westminster Property Association, we showcased Victoria as an international investment destination by attending MIPIM, the World’s largest property exhibition, in 2014.

Our plans

More than 130 million people pass through Victoria’s public transport hubs each year. We want to engage these commuters, workers and residents, building support for the changing face of Victoria and ensuring that local benefit is maximised. We will thus continue to build the profile of Victoria nationally as well as internationally, marketing the area as an attractive place to invest, live, visit and work in. Over the next five years, our work will support local businesses and inspire confidence for further business investment. We plan to drive footfall and increase dwell time and spend; positioning Victoria as a vibrant and changing part of London that manages to preserve its uniqueness.
